By all accounts, the Inaugural Indiana First Bank Veteran's Marathon and Half Marathon was a huge success. Join us for the second annual races which this year will include a four-person marathon relay. The course is relatively flat (by Western Pennsylvania standards) and is certified. The 2012 race raised more than $11,000.00 which was donated to the Indiana County Veteran's Assistance Fund. Proceeds of the 2013 will also go to that good cause. The donation in 2012 was made possible through the generosity of many local sponsors, including our title sponsor Indiana First Bank. In addition race registration fees, t-shirt sales, and "round-up" fees played a big part in helping to raise the donated amount.
As in 2012, the races in 2013 are capped in order to keep the event manageable. For 2013, the caps for the marathon and half marathon have been raised to 225 for each race. The Marathon Four-Person Relay will be limited to the first 30 relay teams to register. Registration deadline is October 25, 2013, or until the cap for each event is reached, whichever comes first. To be fair to everyone, there will be no exceptions. Please register early to avoid disappointment.
Our event is very affordable, just $26.20 per runner, about what you would pay to run a local 5K. Please note that there are no refunds once you have registered and no substitutions. For just $12.00 more you can purchase a short sleeve tech shirt or a long sleeve t-shirt. We are also asking that you consider "rounding up" your registration amount for an additional donation to the Veteran's Assistance Fund. We were pleased last year to find that well more than half the registrants for the marathon and the half marathon rounded up their registration fee, in some cases by substantial amounts.
Awards will be presented to the first place male and female finishers in the marathon and the half marathon, and to the first place team in the relay event. There are no age group awards but every finisher will receive a really cool finisher's award.
Above you will find a link to a thank you ad listing the sponsors of the 2012 race. Again, we would like to thank those individuals and companies for their support, and we hope that they will support the 2013 event as well. There is also a link to a sponsorship page in case you or your company would like to become a sponsor. Your support will be appreciated.
