TRIPLE CROWN RACE SERIES

HOME      TRIPLE CROWN RACE APPLICATIONS        TRIPLE CROWN POINTS STANDINGS

The Indiana County Triple Crown Race Series began several years ago, and as the name implies, it consisted of three races.  To be eligible for the championship, a runner had to compete in all three races.

Two new races were added to the series in recent years, and now runners need to complete just three of the five races in order to qualify for the championship.  Since part of the scoring involves how many runners one finishes ahead of, it is advantageous to run more than just three races.  Only your top three will count but you may score better in one race than another depending of the size of the field and your individual effort on a given day.

The final race of the series is the Run For The Trail 7K held in August.  Top three male and female finishers will be announced on this page following the last race.

Scoring for each event is as follows:

1. The total number of finishers minus your place plus one equals your race points based on your finish

2.  Your age minus 29 if your are older than 29, or 29 minus your age if you are younger than 29 equals your age graded points.

Those two factors added together will give you your points total for the particular race.

In addition, five points are given for the race series if you are a member of Indiana Road Runners Club.

You must complete three or more of the races to be eligible for the Triple Crown Championship.  Your points total toward the championship will consist of your top three highest races, plus five points if you are a member of IRRC.

The Triple Crown Winners for 2009 are:

FEMALE MALE
1st Ronnie Bujdos 1st Al Casagranda
2nd Mary Jean Bujdos 2nd Alex Woodrow
3rd Laura Yevchak 3rd Doug Ulishney & Mark Stern (tie)
